YES, WITH LIMITS — 24 consecutive hours on working days, excluding the day before a Sunday or public holiday. On Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays the period extends until the next working day (official Naturvardsverket guidance for rastplatser: 'Pa lordagar, sondagar och helgdagar far du stanna till nasta vardag'). Off the road, on terrang, the limit is zero.
- Chapter 3 of the trafikforordningen contains NO national rule based on mass >3,500 kg or length >6 m: restrictions on heavy vehicles, and any prohibition on sleeping overnight, are imposed by municipal lokala trafikforeskrifter or ordningsforeskrifter and must appear on the sign (tillaggstavla beneath the P). Key to not confusing parking with sleeping overnight: parking for 24 h is legal, but 'Att stalla upp husbil, husvagn med dragfordon eller bil/fordon med taktalt ingar inte heller i allemansratten' (Naturvardsverket). Outside the road area everything is terrang in the legal sense ('Praktiskt taget all naturmark ar terrang i lagens mening. Forutom skog och mark raknas aven strander, hagar, parkmark och grasmattor som terrang'), and there the prohibition of terrangkorningslag 1 § applies, which binds even the landowner: the landowner cannot authorise a third party to drive or park on their own terrang. It is possible to park right at the edge of a private road (enskild vag) provided the ground is not damaged and neither the owner nor traffic is obstructed.
