The municipality

Morsø is a large municipality measuring 31 by 35 kilometres, spread over 4 separate pieces. With 19.734 inhabitants it is of medium density (54 per square kilometre). It has a coastline, and that matters: the strip of maritime-terrestrial public domain is governed by its own rule, different from that of the rest of the municipality. Within its boundaries there are 6 protected areas, including Dråby Vig. There, the rules on permitted uses are set by each area's own plan. It borders 7 municipalities, and the answer may change on crossing any of those lines.

Protected-area designation: the rule of the protected area applies here in addition to the municipal one, and it usually makes the penalty harsher.

Where the line lies between parking, sleeping and camping
camping · Denmark
Camping is forbidden outside a campsite or designated zone. What changes from one country to another is which gesture crosses the line:
  • The law does not prohibit camping throughout the country: it prohibits placing «campingvogne og lignende» (caravans and the like) in specific strips that cover a great deal of territory: the dune areas protected by klitfredning (§ 8), within 150 m of protected lakes and rivers (§ 16) and within 300 m of forests (§ 17).
  • On beaches and coasts access is on foot, with «kortvarigt ophold» (short stay) and bathing (§ 22): overnight stays are not part of that right of access.
  • Outside those strips, camping on private land requires the owner's permission; the access regulation (BEK 852/2016) also prohibits «opstille telte og lign.» on the land it regulates.

«Der må ikke placeres bebyggelse, campingvogne og lignende inden for en afstand af 300 m fra skove.»
On the beach the answer is no even if the municipality is permissive: the prohibition is national and needs no sign.
